Therapy Dog Receives Honorary Doctorate

Moose, an 8-year-old therapy dog, has been granted an honorary doctorate in veterinary medicine from Virginia Tech during their 2020 virtual commencement. The good boy had his start in 2014, where he assisted as a therapy animal and became an ambassador for mental health awareness at the Cook Counseling Center. He has since sat in on more than 7,500 counseling sessions with students and attended over 500 outreach events. The people closest to Moose say that “when not working, he enjoys swimming, playing tug of war, and perhaps most of all, eating.”

He is sure to receive plenty of treats along with his diploma for his everlasting “pawsitive” impression!

Happy tails! -Amanda E.
